Billabong Pro Junior San Bartolo abre el sudamericano Sub-18 en Peru

Tras el éxito de la primera fecha del Circuito Profesional de Surfistas del Perú, Entertainment Producciones continúa su camino formando a los futuros talentos y organiza una vez más el Billabong Pro Junior San Bartolo, que abrirá las clasificatorias sudamericanas para el Mundial Pro Junior de la World Surf League. El balneario de San Bartolo recibirá a los mejores juveniles del continente y por supuesto la nueva generación de tablistas locales tendrá la gran oportunidad de defender la blanquirroja.
Del 5 al 7 de mayo, la Playa Norte de San Bartolo ya tiene a sus primeros confirmados, tanto en la rama masculina como femenina. Ya son más de cincuenta los inscritos de seis distintas nacionalidades: Brasil, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Ecuador y Perú. La gran novedad para este 2016 es el cambio en el límite de edad: el máximo era 20 años y ahora bajó a 18.
El evento de este año también marca el retorno de Billabong a la categoría Pro Junior que ella misma comenzó, promocionando los primeros campeones mundiales de la historia de la World Surf League. El primero fue el fallecido hawaiano Andy Irons en 1998, seguido por el australiano Joel Parkinson en 1999 y el brasileño Pedro Henrique el año 2000, en las tres ediciones llevadas a cabo en Hawaii. Después la competencia cambió para Australia y siguió definiendo los mejores tablistas del mundo hasta 20 años de edad por muchos años.
En Sudamérica Billabong también fue pionero en la categoría Pro Junior y vuelve ahora en el Billabong Pro Junior San Bartolo Perú. El año pasado el brasileño Deivid Silva y la peruana Miuska Tello fueron los ganadores de este primer evento y terminaron la temporada como bicampeones sudamericanos Pro Junior. Debido al nuevo límite de edad, ambos ya no podrán competir en la categoría Junior.
Gracias a los Pro Juniors de la WSL organizados en el Perú, nuestros jóvenes tablistas tienen la oportunidad de competir a un alto nivel, mejorar su rendimiento y sumar importantes puntos en su propio país para el ranking. Melanie Giunta, Miluska Tello, Juninho Urcia, Alonso Correa, Lucca Saldivar, Miguel Tudela, son algunos de los nombres de nuestros surfistas que dejan al Perú en los más alto, buscando imitar lo hecho por Sofía Mulanovich y Piccolo Clemente en el Tour Mundial de la WSL.
Finalmente, cabe destacar que la Fundación Planeta Azul en coordinación con Entertainment Producciones se encargará de asumir el pago de las inscripciones para el Billabong Pro Junior San Bartolo 2016 a los veinte primeros surfistas juveniles que se hayan anotado en las cuatro fechas del Circuito Profesional de Surfistas del Perú CPSP.
