In this episode of WSL Surf 101, we're going to look at one of the best ways to share waves -- crossover surfing. Chasing another surfer down the face of a long wave is both graceful and elegant, and the key to crossover surfing is finding a rhythm with your partner.
As one surfer leads the other follows behind, choosing a line that can either intersect or flow behind the lead surfer. Long walls are best for crossover surfing, so point breaks are the ideal set up for a great ride. But even better is the perfect wave at the Surf Ranch.
Crossovers can be beautiful, but there's a lot of room for error, so each surfer needs to have good awareness of where they are on the wave, and perfect control to ensure they don't collide with their dance partner.
