Simmers, Florence Add Their Name to Surfing Legacy at Lexus WSL Finals, Hoist Duke Kahanamoku Trophy | The Catch Up

Surfing's biggest single day of competition ended in exaltation for World No. 1's Caitlin Simmers and John John Florence after fending off formidable opponents who caught major steam going into the Title Matches. Simmers' historic season ends with more history added, becoming the youngest WSL Champion and notching her maiden World Title after going the distance against 2023 WSL Champion Caroline Marks. The world eagerly awaited Florence's Lexus WSL Finals debut and he didn't disappoint, besting 2019 WSL Champion Italo Ferreira with a last-minute win before a dominant display to close out the Final and claim his third World Title. Florence now joins the likes of Andy Irons, Gabriel Medina, Mick Fanning and more with three Titles. That's a wrap for 2024 and we'll see you in 2025!
