Then, history was made with Alan Cleland defeating event threat Marco Mignot in the dying seconds to claim his first, and Mexico's, first US Open of Surfing title. Now, the rankings are shuffled and qualification scenarios thicken heading into the EDP Ericeira Pro beginning September 29 through October 6.
