When Gabriel Medina became the first Brazilian world champ in the history of professional surfing, the moment warranted celebration. Which is exactly what Medina did in 2014. After learning he'd won the title during his quarterfinal heat against Filipe Toledo, Medina paddled in. One the beach he celebrated, did interviews and drank some well-deserved Champagne. But after the party on the beach, Medina managed to paddle back out for the remaining 10 minutes of the heat with Toledo, who had yet to rack up much of a scoreline. Medina made history and then turned the heat, despite the mid-heat celebration.
