Los sigue otra potencia de peso mundial, la australiana, con dos notables corredores, Dean Bowen finalista en El Gringo el año 2016 estrella del Team Rip Curl, Jacob Willcox.
Por otro lado, la figura peruana Tomás Tudela, que camina a paso firme para conseguir por segundo año consecutivo el triunfo en Arica.
Sin ir más lejos, el argentino Leandro Usuna, fuera de todos los pronósticos, se metió nomás en cuartos, demostrando un tremendo nivel de surfing.
