"El Gringo" cobró tres heridos de diversa consideración en la previa del Maui And Sons Arica Pro Tour

Mañana, (martes 29 de mayo), Arica será el epicentro del surf mundial, debido básicamente a tres factores. El primero es que se trata de la fecha más importante del tour en este momento, porque es la que más puntos reparte (3 mil) y premios en dinero (75 mil USD).
Segundo, la carrera por sumar puntos para Tokio 2020 está desatada, delegaciones completas de deportistas ya están instaladas en Arica: Brasil 25, Estados Unidos 25, Chile 17, Australia 12 y Perú 11, además de los atletas provenientes de Europa y Asia.
Y tercero, por lo ocurrido hoy, cuando cerca de 20 competidores rompieron tabla, en una jornada previa memorable, con "El Gringo" reventando fuertemente, alcanzando hasta los 4 metros de altura.

El más grave fue el japonés Ohta Takuto, tras sortear una mala bajada en una ola cercana a los tres metros de altura, sufrió una fractura de costilla. Los otros dos, fueron el norteamericano Tylor Gunter con un tec cerrado, y el destacado rider brasileño, Raoni Monteiro, quien estuvo hace un par de años compitiendo el World Champion Tour (los 32 mejores del mundo), con una luxación en el hombro.
Guillermo Satt va a la caza de Selman y es favorito
El ariqueño tuvo una actuación descollante en la fecha del tour mundial realizada en Iquique la semana recién pasada. Además de llegar a cuartos de final, mostró una muy buena performance, anotando un 10 luego de conectar un tubo impecable. De seguir sumando puntos en las olas del "patio de su casa", Satt podría pasar al viñamarino Manuel Selman, que le lleva 11 puestos de ventaja en el ranking mundial.
Hermanos Dantas vuelven a "El Gringo" en inmejorable posición
Los hermanos brasileños Wesley y Wiggolly Dantas se encuentran rozando el top 50 del ranking mundial. Además son conocedores del "Gringo", situación que los pone dentro del cuadro de los favoritos para quedarse con el certamen.

El australiano fue invitado al World Championship Tour, tras su espectacular arranque de temporada, nivel que mantiene, y comprobó la semana recién pasada, quedándose con el título del Héroes de Mayo, la fecha anterior del tour mundial, donde sumó 1500 puntos.
Sin embargo, el vasco Aritz Aranburú (número 25), es el mejor del ranking de los 114 competidores inscritos. Situación que lo deja sin lugar a dudas como favorito natural para llevarse el título.
