Slater finished ahead of hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky and musician Huey Lewis, making waves in a totally different way. The iconic surfer has been a golf enthusiast for a number of years, finding similarities between golfing and surfing that make the former a natural second love.
With fewer than two weeks remaining until the start of the 2015 Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour season, it would appear Slater, who snagged a perfect 10 at this year's Volcom Pipe Pro, is doing more than just surfing to ready himself for the mental challenges of competition.
Don't miss Slater kick off his next quest for World Title No. 12 at the 2015 Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast beginning February 28 LIVE on the World Surf League homepage.
