She lost her Round 3 heat in Portugal, which sent her to a sudden-death heat in Round 4. But Wright was able to defeat Pauline Ado (FRA) and Johanne Defay (FRA) and advance to the next round.
Wright lost to eventual event winner and current rankings leader Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) and will have an uphill battle going into the final event, the Target Maui Pro. Results there will determine the Women's 2014 World Champion.
