PLAYA DE LA CICER, Gran Canaria – Canary Islands (Tuesday, August 6, 2013) - ASP Europe is pleased to announce the confirmation of the Gran Canaria Santa Pro Junior this year again, an ASP Europe 3-Star Men's and 1-Star Women's Pro Junior event for September 11-15, 2013. The traditional Spring event in Gran Canaria should benefit from this change in dates with better surf conditions in the Atlantic later in the year.
A favourite amongst the top Juniors, the Gran Canaria Santa Pro Junior brings our top European contenders to the beautiful city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for an intense five-day waiting period.
"The Gran Canaria Santa Pro Junior is set once again to play a major role in deciding this year's qualifiers to the ASP World Junior Championships," Rob Gunning, European Tour Manager confirms. "It's 3-Star rating ensures maximum points for the men's division and the rippable beach break of La Cicer will provide the playing field for all the action to unfold."
For the first time in recent years, Gran Canaria will also play host to the Women's junior field opening the event to a maximum of 48 surfers from all around the Old Continent.
"The 1-Star women's event is a new addition this year to the Gran Canaria Santa Pro Junior and ASP Europe is delighted to bring our top female athletes back to Gran Canaria. Being the second last stop on the women's Pro Junior tour the event's importance is paramount for all the surfers building on their overall rankings points."
