Traveling along with other Young Guns like Jack Robinson and Leo Fioravanti, and under the influence of teammates like Kelly Slater and Dane Reynolds, Kanoa quickly developed into a world class competitor and talent. In a testament to the power of manifestation and dedicated parenthood, Kanoa was the youngest surfer on the Championship Tour when he qualified in 2016.
Surfing for his parent's native Japan, Kanoa was the first surfer officially confirmed for the host country of the Tokyo Olympics, well before any other surfers could claim their spot. Making the final in the Tokyo Games, Kanoa became surfing's first Silver Medalist.
