TAVARUA ISLAND, Fiji (Wednesdayday, June 12, 2024) - The iconic and picturesque Tavarua Island Resort will host the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT) elite during the upcoming Corona Fiji Pro, Stop No. 9 on the 2024 CT, from August 20 - 29, 2024.
Tavarua and the WSL will continue its legacy as a partnership of the Fiji Pro. CT athletes and their guests will call the Island Paradise home for the event window, while the event will gain access to Tavarua's left-hander, ‘Restaurants,' as a backup location for the competition.
"The WSL is stoked to be partnering with Tavarua Island Resort for our return to Fiji this August," said WSL APAC President Andrew Stark. "The partnership will see our athletes enjoy the luxurious surroundings of the resort whilst competing in one of the most anticipated events of the 2024 season. WSL will also work with Tavarua Island Resort in the instance that the event moves to the backup location of Restaurants. We thank them for their support and look forward to returning to Fiji this August."
"This year marks the 40th anniversary of Tavarua Island, and we are thrilled to celebrate by welcoming back the WSL and its athletes. It's an honor for us, alongside Fiji and our local community, to host the world's top surfers amidst the natural beauty, pristine reef system, and world-class waves that surround the island."
Whilst CT athletes, their guests and a handful of event staff will be staying at Tavarua Island Resort, the majority of WSL staff, event officials, partners and media will be staying on the mainland, predominantly at Mariott Fiji Resort Momi Bay, who are also partnering with WSL in 2024.
