COOLANGATTA, Queensland/AUS (Tuesday, March 12, 2024) - The World Surf League (WSL) and Bond University have today announced they will be extending their partnership through to the end of 2026, thanks to a new agreement between the two organisations.
Continuing as the Official Higher Education Partner of WSL Australia, Bond University will be able to offer their students even more placements and industry engagements across the WSL. Bond academics and researchers also have opportunities to engage with the WSL APAC in their work and research.
"Bond University has been a great supporter of the WSL in Australia for four years now, and we're excited to see the partnership grow," said Andrew Stark, President WSL APAC. "The student placement program has been mutually beneficial for both organisations, with Bond students getting real-world experience at a global sporting league whilst our team is pleased by the energy and fresh perspectives the students bring with them. Some of the students have even continued on to work beyond their placement, which has been a fantastic opportunity for all involved. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Bond and can't wait to see what the next three years will bring."
Bond will also enjoy a new Broadcast integration, the Bond University Athlete Health Check, across the four events, giving the University global visibility into their key target markets. The integration will be a general update on the health of the athletes during competition.
The broadcast-led initiative will be complemented via Bond branding in the Medical Area at each of the designated events.
"Bond University is proud to be continuing as the Official Higher Education Partner of WSL Australia until 2026," said Cheryl Jolliffe, Vice President Future Students. "With the aligned values of both organisations, it is a natural fit, and it has been incredibly exciting to see the depth and breadth of the partnership come to life, including in providing unique career opportunities for our students. The partnership extension allows us to continue to expand this relationship and provide even more students with enriching experiences across a range of areas."
