COOLANGATTA, Queensland /AUS (Wednesday, January 31, 2023) - GWM is set to continue as a huge supporter of professional surfing in 2024 after announcing today it will continue its partnership with the World Surf League across five major Australian events on three different tours.
2024 will see the brand new GWM Tank 500 SUV take centre stage at the two Australian Championship Tour events and the Bells Beach Longboard Classic, as well as continuing as the title partner of the GWM Sydney Surf Pro and presenting of the Gold Coast Pro Challenger Series events.
"WSL is thrilled to continue this fantastic partnership with GWM in 2024," said WSL APAC President Andrew Stark. "Surfing and road trips go hand-in-hand, making this partnership such a perfect one. Having GWM represented across three tours shows such great commitment to our sport, and we thank them for the ongoing support."
Along with the onsite activation experiences for fans, 2024 will see the continuation of the GWM Catch Up VOD daily highlights package, which is distributed across WSL's owned and operated platforms on each competition day.
"GWM's partnership with the WSL and the wider surfing community over the past two years has been a success and helped the GWM brand to even greater heights with record sales and appeal amongst Australian new car buyers," said GWM Head of Marketing & Communications, Steve Maciver. "With the addition of exciting and innovative new products like the 7-seat 4WD hybrid Tank 500, the perfect partner for enjoying the outdoor lifestyle, the decision to extend our sponsorship with the WSL was a simple one."
The 2024 Championship Season will see the return of GWM ambassador and Australian surfing icon Sally Fitzgibbons to the elite level. Fitzgibbons will be looking to secure her maiden World title and will do so whilst cruising the Aussie Coast in her GWM Tank 300.
