BANZAI PIPELINE, Oahu, Hawaii, USA (TBD Wednesday, January 17, 2024) - The World Surf League (WSL) 2024 Championship Tour (CT) season will officially begin on January 29, 2024, at the world-renowned Banzai Pipeline at the Lexus Pipe Pro Presented by YETI. The CT class of 2024 will compete in nine regular season events around the world, leading up to the WSL Finals, where the top 5 ranked men and women will compete for the coveted World Titles. Surfing will make its second appearance in the Olympic Games, this time at Paris 2024 in July, where 18 WSL-qualified athletes will compete at Teahupo'o in Tahiti.
About the 2024 Championship Tour Format and Schedule
The men's and women's CT fields consist of the world's best surfers who have qualified via the 2023 CT and the 2023 Challenger Series, as well as WSL Season Wildcards and event wildcards selected by the WSL Tours and Competition team.
36 men and 18 women will compete in the first five competitions and, at each event, surfers will accrue points on the WSL CT rankings. The Mid-Season Cut will come into action following the Margaret River Pro, Stop. No. 5, and reduce the men's and women's fields to 24 and 12, respectively, for the remaining four events. The season rounds out with the 2024 WSL Finals, which will be held in Lower Trestles in San Clemente, Calif., where the men's and women's WSL Final 5 will compete for the World Titles in the one-day, winner-take-all event.

First Stop: Lexus Pipe Pro Presented by YETI Kicks off on January 29, 2024
The Banzai Pipeline, located on the North Shore of Oahu, is one of the most powerful and challenging waves in the world. Widely known as surfing's proving ground, surfers have been making the journey here every season to test their skills at the world-renowned break. The wave itself is a hollow, fast, barrel that breaks over a treacherous reef.
Over the past two seasons, the women have showcased their talents at Pipeline and raised the bar for what is possible, inspiring a new generation of surfers. Defending event winner and five-time World Champion Carissa Moore (HAW) put on a brilliant display of barrel riding last season, making her the one to beat. But, she will face a stacked field including a new rookie class hoping to make a name for themselves. WSL CT Fantasy Open Now for 2024 Season
WSL Fantasy Surfing is now live for the 2024 season. Fans can now create their leagues, invite friends, and build teams for the Lexus Pipe Pro. WSL Fantasy for the Lexus Pipe Pro Presented by YETI will lock at the start of the men's Round of 32 and women's Round of 16. Learn more at CTFantasy.WorldSurfLeague.com.
Rookie Class of 2024 Ready to Make Their Debut
The 2024 CT will see an exciting new rookie class take the world stage. Several of Southern California's rising stars will make their CT debut at Pipeline including Cole Houshmand, Alyssa Spencer, Sawyer Lindblad, and Kade Matson. Rookie Crosby Colapinto (USA) will be eager to raise the bar alongside his brother and Final 5 competitor, Griffin Colapinto (USA). Rounding out the 2024 rookie class is the winner of the 2023 US Open of Surfing, Eli Hanneman (HAW), and Australia's Jacob Wilcox.

WSL Athletes to Compete in Olympic Games Paris 2024
Through the 2023 WSL CT rankings, 18 WSL CT surfers have qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (10 men and 8 women). A break has been added to the CT schedule in July to allow time for qualified athletes to travel to Tahiti ahead of the Games, where the line-up will be closed for Olympic athletes to practice. The CT event in Tahiti has been moved earlier to May to accommodate the Olympics and will be the last opportunity to watch the world's best surfers in competition at Teahupo'o ahead of the Games.
