World Championship Tour (WCT) competitor Filipe Toledo (BRA) opened the Saquarema Prime in the inaugural four-man priority heat.
Raoni Monteiro (BRA) came into the event looking to advance his standings in the QS rankings and ensure a 2015 Tour spot.
Adriano De Souza (BRA) came in as the local favorite, topping the QS rankings and ranked No. 6 in the world.
Sebastian Zietz (HAW) came to Saquarema off a Quarterfinal finish at the Billabong Rio Pro just days before.
Billy Stairmand (NZL) was one of the standouts throughout the event.
Another WCT competitor Tiago Pires (PRT) won his Round 1 heat with a pair of midrange scores.
Toledo hit the second nine-pointer of the event on his opening Round 2 ride.
Ricardo Christie (NZL) took down two standouts, Matt Banting (AUS) and Chris Ward (USA), in Round 3.
Alex Ribeiro (BRA) won the opening heat of Round 3 by a margin of 0.07.
Heitor Alves (BRA) bested two WCT surfers, Dion Atkinson (AUS) and Jadson Andre (BRA), in Round 3.
Keanu Asing (HAW) showed high-level performance from start to finish. He posted two excellent scores--a 9.50 and an 8.00--in Round 4.
Asing stormed through Day 5, topping one of the Brazilian favorites Toledo en route to the Quarterfinals.
De Souza entered the event as No. 1 on the ASP QS, and made his way to the final day of competition.
Wiggolly Dantas (BRA) had held his ground throughout the event and found himself in a Semifinal heat with another Saquarema standout, Stairmand.
Stairmand continued to improve but lost in the Semis to the eventual event champion.
De Souza put together a few good carves in the Semifinals but ultimately fell short.
The Final was hard-fought in challenging conditions but Asing fell short by just a tenth of a point.
