With a World Title on the line, the world's best female surfers battled it out at the 2018 Beachwaver Maui Pro to see how the last event of year would unfold.
Day 1: Round 1 through Round 3, Heat 4
Wildcard Alana Blanchard took out Lakey Peterson in Round 2, crowning Stephanie Gilmore the 2018 World Champ for 7th time.
Day 1 of the Beachwaver Maui Pro saw insanely good surf. At the start of the day Lakey Peterson sat at number 2 in the rankings, dreaming of a becoming World Champ but Wildcard Alana Blanchard had different plans, as she took out Lakey in Round 2. Alana's victory meant Stephanie Gilmore became a 7x world champ and tied Layne Beachley for most women's World Titles. The icing on the cake was that more swell was on tap for day 2 of Beachwaver Maui Pro.
Day 2: Quarterfinals through Finals
Carissa Moore finished off the year off with the first 10-point-ride of the year, taking the crown as 2018 Beachwaver Maui Champ.
During day 2 of the event, Malia Manuel took on Carissa Moore in the Final where Carissa dropped the first 10-point-ride of the year, which led to her to victory as Beachwaver Maui Pro champ.
"This is so special," said Moore. "My whole family is here. This is probably the best competitive day I've ever had in my life. To finish off the season like this...I don't even know what to say."
