The Gold Coast was graced with some fun waves last week after a slow start to the season. And a new epsiode of "Electric Sessions" caught some of the Australia's best including Parko, Occy, Liam O'Brien, Mitch Crews and standout surfer - Ethan Ewing.
Ewing, a former Championship Tour competitor, recently earned a ticket to the 2020 class after finishing No. 8 on the Qualifying Series. Now he's at home training for the first stop -- the Corona Open Gold Coast kicking off March 26th.
Hailing from Queensland, the 21-year-old has proven himself in all types of conditions after finishing runner-up in 2019 the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. He also spent five years grinding on the QS from 2015 through 2019.
Last year, Ewing made back-to-back finals at the Hawaiian Pro and the Vans World Cup of Surfing, nearly winning the Vans Triple Crown over the Greatest Of All Time, Kelly Slater. Ewing was left chasing only 150 points, and could have secured that if he had advanced through the Pipe Invitational.
With a solid end to the 2019 season and a CT season already under his belt, Ewing will be a serious threat this year. Welcome back to the Tour, Ethan.
