Nikki Van Dijk (AUS) forced WCT No. 4 Bianca Buitendag (ZAF) and No. 10 Coco Ho (HAW) into the elimination round with her underdog victory.
Buitendag is in danger of leveling off, struggling to match her performance at the Gold Coast where she finished in second place.
Ho posted mid-range scores but needed one better to outpace her opponents.
Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS) solidified her Heat 2 victory with wave selection that saw her improve throughout the heat.
Johanne Defay (FRA) tallied the most scores but the least amount of points in her Heat 2 outing.
Defay needed an excellent score to overcome Fitzgibbons' lead but the surf didn't produce.
Fitzgibbons stoked on her Heat 2 victory
