Night Surf and QS Action back to Anglet this Summer
Nicolas Leroy
While the whole planet with look at the French Basque Country hosting the G7 in Biarritz, the surfing world will likely prefer the neighbor town of Anglet where Europe's best is set to compete at both the QS1,500 Deeply Pro Anglet and the annual night surf show of Surf de Nuit Anglet.
What?
It will all start on Sunday, August 18 conditions permitting, with yet another installment of the Surf de Nuit, a night-surf specialty event at Chambre d'Amour. The event reached an all-time high last year with capacity crowds watching super fun action and Dj sets to give the whole night an incredible vibe.
Once again it will be a team format, each team composed of two men and a woman, surfing under their sponsors' colors and fighting for the win as well as wildcard slots into the Deeply Pro Anglet.
The QS1,500 will then start the following Tuesday, and be Stop No. 8 on the region's Qualifying Series, ultimately awarding the European Title. But before that, it will also present one last opportunity for all qualifying hopefuls to tune in their game before the Galicia Surf Pro, a massive QS10,000 coming shortly after.
With the newly announced support of Portuguese surfing brand Deeply, this event will continue to build on its recent heritage and welcome a strong international field to the iconic Chambre d'Amour lineup.
Where?
Four past editions have already proven the Chambre d'Amour to be an epic spot for professional surfing. Pumping waves of all sizes and shapes have graced past events and surfers return each year for a piece of the action.
Banks form on either sides of the brightly-colored pier and usually pump super fun conditions in summer, much to the delight of massive crowds both here to watch the event and get their own experience in the Anglet waters.
When?
