The West Sumbawa Pro continued to dish up the action at the high-performance right-hander of Yo-Yo's on Day 2 of competition. The men's and women's QS1,000 rated World Surf League event rolled through multiple rounds, leaving just eight men's Quarterfinalists and four women's Semifinalists to fight for the inaugural event titles.

Rio Waida, 2017 WSL Asia Regional QS Champion posted the highest single waves score of the event so far when he unleashed two devastatingly powerful turns right in the pocket on a solid set wave. Waida is currently ranked 123 on the QS and is eyeing a big result here in West Sumbawa to jump into the top 100 to be able to enter the QS10,000s.
"It was hard out there in the wind and high tide, but I was so happy to get a big score," Waida said. "It was so windy that we couldn't hear scores, but it worked out well, it just felt like a free surf. I had some bad results in Europe, so it feels so good to back home in Indonesia and making heats."

Eli Hanneman, 15-year-old phenomenon from Hawaii was looking sharp in his Round of 16 heat where he advanced in second place behind Waida. The young surfer from Lahaina, Maui had a big result finishing 3rd at the Hello Pacitan Pro in Java last year and is now enjoying his first trip to West Sumbawa. Haneman was mixing rail surfing with big airs to easily advance into the Quarterfinals.
"Yo-Yos is a super fun wave," Hanneman said. "This trip has been great, I love to travel and Indonesia is one of my favourite places and definitely a place I want to explore more. Getting into the Quarterfinals is great, I couldn't really hear the scores in that heat and the waves were tricky because of the wind, so to get to the beach to find out your in the Quarters feels good."

Vittoria Farmer, winner of both the Nias Pro and Simeulue Pro is on fire at the moment, posting two event wins in two weeks and is now into the Semifinals of the West Sumbawa Pro. Farmer showed poise and power while others struggled in the big and windy conditions and she will now take on Taina Izquierdo when competition resumes.
"Winning three QS events in a row is on my mind because I'm close now that I'm in the Semis, but I am trying not to think about it," Farmer said. "I'm having a lot of fun at these events, I'm seeing a lot of this country and I'm loving it and surfing good waves is good for your surfing and training, winning events is a nice bonus."

Indonesia's Taina Izquierdo and Kailani Johnson along with Australia's Elizabeth Stokely also advanced into the Semifinals with some powerful and sharp surfing in the solid waves at Yo-Yo's.
