As Forecast Partner, Surfline will support WSL in four areas: providing Surfline's base forecast overview to inform WSL for event planning; Surfline's detailed forecasts to include nuanced details, graphics and provide on-screen expert insights during WSL broadcasts; Surfline's proprietary Wave Mechanics data and details help bring to life each wave on the Tour; and Surfline's Science of Swell Forecasting, which will enhance ongoing fan education.
As part of the partnership, Surfline will bring its proprietary data sets including 35-year human and model data, its data science team, as well the unique skills of Surfline's 14 surf meteorologists to the WSL Commissioner's Office so WSL can make the best calls possible in terms of run days and times.
Additionally, Surfline will provide WSL Broadcast and Editorial teams with proprietary forecast model data, historical model and observational data, deep analysis on spot mechanics refraction and bathymetry, and real-time significant storm analysis. This content will be incorporated in graphics, animations, talking points and other key content for live WSL broadcasts and WSL web and app products.
