The loss is a crushing blow to Smith's World Title chances, as he's currently in a tight race with Jeep Leader John John Florence for the 2017 World Championship. Kerr -- World No. 35 -- who reaffirmed his retirement news to Rosy Hodge after the heat, sardonically joked during his post-heat interview that Smith didn't offer up any deals prior to their match-up, but if he had, things might have worked out differently.
