Snapper Rocks stole the show on Day 4, with some of the best conditions in years for the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro. The ageless one, Coolie Kid Joel Parkinson, was looking locked-in and laser focused on winning at his home break.
Italo Ferreria hucked a huge flat-spin backside 540 on a closeout set wave and scored a perfect 10. Rookie Zeke Lau scored a 10 in his Round Three heat, but it wasn't enough to advance, while wildcard Mikey Wright had World Champ John John Florence on the ropes until the very end.
The Roxy Pro, meanwhile, featured an explosive early round clash between World Champs Carissa Moore and Steph Gilmore, which did not disappoint. Gilmore looked to have the heat wrapped up after channeling Coolangatta legend Michael Peterson with multiple deep, Cheater 5-style tubes, only to be clipped at the buzzer by a blitzing Moore.
