When young Californian Nic Lamb first burst onto the big-wave scene he was known for a technical, fearless approach and candy-colored boards and wetsuits. Now firmly entrenched on the Big Wave Tour, those two things have remained the same. In the first of two bad wipeouts in the Final, a blustery, bouncy drop got the better of Lamb, who pearled and slapped the wave face violently. He was rewarded with an underwater trip through the impact zone.
