Even amid wonky surf at Pipe, it didn't take long for the defending Pipeline Invitational champ to assert his dominance this year. During his Quarterfinal heat Jack already had a commanding lead when this thick Backdoor teepee swung his way. The hard-charging Australian didn't flinch as he threaded his way to a 9-point ride, leaving the rest of his competitors comboed (needing two new scores to catch up).
