The upsets started early during the Quarterfinals of the Hawaiian Pro. Marc Lacomare set the tone when he took down 11x World Champ Kelly Slater and No. 2-ranked Qualifying Series standout Leo Fioravanti. Another on-fire goofyfooter, Connor O'Leary, advanced as well, working his way toward the top of the QS rankings. However, in Heat 2 there were no surprises, as John John Florence posted another dominant performance with back-to-back 9-point rides. Then CT veteran Jadson Andre kept the upset train rolling when he ended the heroic runs of QS startups Griffin Colapinto and Victor Bernardo.
