Once conditions finally cleaned up at Haleiwa, there was no shortage of action in Round Three of the Hawaiian Pro. And amid the stacked field of elite Championship Tour competitors, it was 18-year-old San Clemente local Griffin Colapinto who stole the show. With seconds remaining in his heat, he threw a huge Hail-Mary air to take the win.
Classic rail-work also garnered big scores. Vasco Ribeiro continued his solid run, and powered through Round Three with a win. French goofyfooter Joan Duru followed suit with a victory, and continues to reinforce his solid No. 4 Qualifying Series rank. After six full-time seasons on the QS, Duru's spot on the 2017 Championship Tour is looking even more promising.
