While many competitors struggled to find scores in maxed out surf at Haleiwa, Torrey Meister and Hiroto Ohhara didn't hesitate to dig in. Both regularfoots earned solid numbers with committed rail surfing on the powerful, blue canvases. While Hawaiian native Torrey Meister earned the highest score of the heat, Hiroto capitalized on a solid backup score in the final minutes and took the win.
