The Vans Triple Crown kicked off in clean conditions at Haleiwa during Round One of the Hawaiian Pro. While New Zealand regularfooter Ricardo Christie was a clear standout in Round One, it was the goofyfooters who proved to be most dominant. Frenchman Marc Lacomare's backhand attack looked particularly lethal as he hacked his way to a handful of excellent scores, winning both his Round One and Two heats. Californian Ian Crane also dug his heels into a few Haleiwa rights and posted a pair of big numbers to secure a clutch Round One victory.
With a healthy on the horizon for the North Shore, the stakes will be even higher when Round Two resumes at Haleiwa.
