Conner Coffin knew he had his work cut out for him in the Semis of the MEO Rip Curl Pro with the top-seeded South African Jordy Smith, who posted a perfect 10 yesterday during the Quarters. The California rookie rose to the occasion when he posted a huge 9-point ride in a critical Supertubos barrel. Although Smith responded with a pair of sevens, Coffin's excellent score sealed the win. Jordy needed to win the MEO Rip Curl Pro in order to push the World Title race to Hawaii. With the Jeep Leader already safely through to the Final, Conner's solid Semifinal performance effectively put the trophy in Florence's hands.
