Tahitian Michel Bourez -- aka "The Spartan" -- was digging the fast-running lefts at Pico do Fabril, the backup venue for the MEO Rip Curl Pro in Peniche, Portugal. The Tahitian had a tough pairing against rookie Jack Freestone, who's scraping for a spot on next year's Championship Tour (CT) roster.
Bourez let loose with his powerful backhand attack, and delivered a major blow to Freestone's requalification effort through the CT route. The rookie is still within striking range on the Qualifying Series (QS), so the upcoming Vans Triple Crown will be a pressure-packed one for Jack.
