WSL
The World Surf League (WSL) and Asian Surfing Championships (ASC) have combined once again to host another world-class event at one of the best surfing locations on the planet. "Personally I'm very happy with the 2016 Mentawai Pro presented by Rip Curl," Mentawai Islands Regent Mr. Yudas Sabbagalet said. "Our vision for the future is to make Mentawai as the gate for tourism for the west side of Sumatra Region, thank very much for all the supports. I hope everyone will enjoy the waves we have to offer."
WSL Australasia Tour Manager Will Hayden-Smith is looking forward to providing more opportunities for Indonesian and International surfers opportunities to sample some of the world's best waves while competing for WSL points and prize-money.
"We're very proud to be working with the Mentawai Government and the ASC to bring add another world-class event to the WSL calendar," Hayden-Smith said. "The event is sure to capture the attention of the world as Indonesian and Internationals go wave for wave in perfect right-hand barrels."
