QS and CT standouts converge on the pumping waves of Cascais, Portugal for the seventh European QS of the season September 28 to October 4.
The 2015 European Qualifying Series (QS) will culminate with the third edition of the men's QS 10,000 Allianz Billabong Pro Cascais from September 28 to October 4, 2015 in beautiful Cascais, Portugal. Already an institution on tour, this event will again attract some of the most talented surfers in the World for a piece of the 10,000 ranking points on offer and $250,000 prize-purse.
The seventh QS event in Europe this season, will also be Stop No. 2 of 3 in the Portuguese Waves Series - Cascais Trophy, an exclusive three-event series that started at the SATA Azores Pro and concluding at the Championship Tour Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal. Past winners of the series include Australia's Adam Melling in 2013 and current World No. 22 Jordy Smith (ZAF) last year. If the prestige wasn't enough, the extra $25,000 bonus will definitely bring out the best in every surfer that competes in the series.
The past two editions of the Allianz Billabong Pro Cascais have delivered world class action in pumping waves at both the main venue of Carcavelos and the backup spot of Guincho, attracting hundreds of thousands of fans to watch it LIVE on webcasts and broadcasts around world. With multiple European athletes currently in position to potentially join the Top 32 next season, this edition promises another week of high-stakes drama in Cascais.
"Allianz is playing a role in the development of surfing in Portugal, not only by supporting this event but also several other competitions throughout the country." José Francisco Neves, marketing and communications director at Allianz stated.
"We're at an all-time high for surfing in Portugal," Paulo Martins, director of Billabong Portugal added. "Billabong has supported competitive surfing since its inception in Portugal and it's gratifying to host some of the World's best surfers in Cascais. Carcavelos is one of the birth places of the sport here and where a lot of us have had their first experience in the waves."
