The 2015 JQS1,000 Prozis Pro Junior Espinho Starts on June 25, 2015
Only two days separate us from the start of the Men & Women Prozis Pro Junior Espinho, stop n°2 of 5 on the European Junior Qualifying Series. The region's best up-and-coming talents are excited to re-ignite the battles that started three months ago in Caparica.
All eyes will turn to rankings leaders Miguel Blanco (PRT) 19, and Teresa Bonvalot (PRT) 15, when competition resumes in Espinho. The Portuguese pair will now try to back up their excellent start with another strong showing in Northern Portugal.
With a good forecast on the horizon, organizers and surfers alike look forward to a successful second edition of the Prozis Pro Junior Espinho.
"We're looking at waves in the 3-to-5 foot range (1.5 metre), with conditions lining up perfectly and culminating over the weekend," Gonçalo Pina, event organizer stated. "The wave here works best on the low tide so we'll make our best efforts to schedule competition accordingly. And when the event is not running, we have a whole lot of side-activities to keep everyone entertained on-site, including brand activation from our partners Prozis and Mercedes. Finally, every night will be punctuated by a sunset DJ party."
Over 120 surfers will now convene to Espinho's praia de Baia and have a chance to tackle the tricky pointbreak-like setting. These last two days of training will prove vital to dial the equipment and fine-tune their approach to the wave.
"It is shaping up to be a fantastic four days of high performance professional junior surfing," Rob Gunning, European Tour Manager said. "Forecast is showing a long period swell and the sand banks have been promising so all looks set. Event organisation team have built an excellent surfer's area to ensure all athletes are well accommodated for. This second stop on the WSL European Junior Series is shaping up to be an unforgettable one."
