TAVARUA, Fiji (Sunday, May 31, 2015) - The Fiji Women's Pro, Stop No. 5 on the 2015 Samsung Galaxy WSL Championship Tour, has called a lay day this morning with only small surf on offer and a spike in size and quality projected for the coming days.
Lead by two-time WSL Champion and frontrunner on the WSL Jeep Leaderboard Carissa Moore (HAW), the world's best female surfers arrived in Fiji yesterday and were warmly greeted by the islands of Tavarua and Namotu. Universally-regarded as one of the best waves on the planet, Cloudbreak is expected to roar to life in the coming days.
"The surf has dropped somewhat this morning and the wind is not ideal so we've call a lay day for today," Jessi Miley-Dyer, WSL Women's Commissioner, said. "We have a pretty good looking forecast for the coming days and anticipate competition to commence tomorrow. Today will serve as an ideal time for the girls to acclimatize and refamiliarize themselves with these incredible waves."
Surfline, official forecaster for the WSL CT, are calling for:
S/SSE swell winds down the first few days of the waiting period as a healthy SW groundswell builds in and peaks. Stronger winds from the SSE/SE to start, trending more Easterly and lightening considerably midweek as SW groundswell holds. Possible larger SW swell late week.
The Fiji Women's Pro will be webcast LIVE on WorldSurfLeague.com
The world's best surfing will also be broadcast LIVE on Fox Sports in Australia, MCS Extreme in France, EDGE Sports in China, South Korea, Malaysia and other territories and on Globo TV in Brazil.
