After an action-packed day of Round 1 heats at the Oi Rio Pro and Oi Rio Women's Pro Tuesday, WSL Commissioner Kieren Perrow called competition off for Wednesday, May 13, with bigger surf predicted.
"We had a long look at it this morning, but ultimately decided to call a lay day for competition," Perrow said. "Conditions are projected to improve in the coming days so we'll be back tomorrow morning to have another look at it."
Surfline's forecast for the week ahead is as follows:
Solid SSE mix for Wednesday with light winds. Solid SSE/SE swell for Thursday eases on Friday. Leftover SE swell on Saturday. Winds are light during the morning hours for Thursday through Saturday before a seabreeze develops in the afternoon. Much smaller surf for Sunday and early next week.
