The West Sumbawa Pro in Indonesia has just been confirmed as a men's and women's Qualifying Series (QS) 1,000 event and will run this September 8-12.
Like most of Indonesia's Indian Ocean facing islands, West Sumbawa has a variety of perfect waves. This event joins the recently announced Nias Pro for what should be a great Indonesian run of WSL events during late August to mid September. The Simeulue Pro, in the Aceh region, has yet to be confirmed and WSL Asia is working hard to lock down that event in the coming days.

"WSL Asia is booming in just it's second year as an autonomous region," said Steve Robertson, WSL Asia Regional Manager. "We have seen perfect wave events at Krui on the island of Sumatra, successful CT events at Keramas and Uluwatu on Bali, a variety of high rated events in Japan along with the spectacular specialty event the Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang."
"We expect to run three events between Nias and West Sumbawa," continued Robertson. "Add to this a specialty event in the Maldives next month, the QS 3,000 events at Cloud 9 and Taiwan, and the World Longboard Championship. We're seeing the Asia region delivering perfect waves and fantastic events."
