The world title race resumes this week in France, and while mathematically speaking there are close to two dozen surfers in the mix, realistically five unique contenders stand a shot, and each gunning to get their hands on surfing's ultimate trophy. While John John Florence and Gabriel Medina are battling for control of the driver's seat, Matt Wilkinson, Jordy Smith and Kelly Slater are giving chase.

Europe's shifty peaks will have their say in the days ahead. Settle in, because this is still anyone's game.
