Muniz Makes Roster for Margaret River
WSL
Current No. 2 on the World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) and former Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour (CT) surfer Alejo Muniz (BRA) has been selected as the wildcard for the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro.
Muniz has been ripping his way through the QS in 2015 in a bid to requalify for the Championship Tour. He earned a 9th-place finish at the Hurley Australian Open of Surfing QS6000earlier this year and found victory at the Burton Automotive Pro QS6000 soon after, boosting him high on the QS rankings.
Muniz had a rough season in 2014 on the elite Tour. He missed the Bells Beach and Margaret River events due to injury, and finished No. 26 overall on the CT rankings.
But at the end of the year, the young Brazilian reminded fans and fellow pros why he deserved to be there when he took down Kelly Slater (USA) in Round 3 of the Billabong Pipe Masters. Muniz ultimately earned a Quarterfinal finish there, the final event of the 2014 season.
Don't miss Muniz's return to the field at the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro webcast LIVE on the World Surf League homepage and WSL App April 15 - 26, 2015.
